New NHS scheme will reduce foreign recruits with less than 34% workforce

Toi correspondent from London: According to the 10 -year NHS Health Plan this week, the UK PM Keer Stmper has announced a plan to cut the number of foreign employees recruited for NHS, less than 34% to 10% from its current level for NHS.The largest group of foreign doctors and nurses in NHS is Indian citizen. By June 2023, there were 60,533 Indian citizens working as employees in NHS. Out of these 10,865 hospital doctors and 31,992 nurses were Indians.“While NHS has always welcomed the recruitments from abroad, today, NHS depends on international recruitment … We will need to reduce the dependence of NHS on foreign employees from our current level-34% of the new recruitments have non-UK nationality. It is our ambition to reduce international recruitment by 10% by 2035, ”the scheme has been said.It also states that UK medical graduates will be given priority above foreign recruitment for Foundation Training, and will be given priority with those who have worked in NHS for a significant period for special training. It states that the 2020 decision to open competition for postgraduate medical training for international trainees on similar terms with UK-tested graduates meant that the competition ratio for postgraduate places increased to a level that was “unacceptable”.Bapio president Ramesh Mehta, who represents Indian original doctors and nurses, is opposed to the plan. He said that one third of the UK-pediatric graduation left the country last year and moved to places like New Zealand, Canada and Australia. He said, “The number of necessary medical staff keeps increasing and it would be impossible to have enough local graduation to fill the roles, especially if they move abroad,” he said. He said that the author of the scheme is “living in Dreamland” because local graduates will remain until things change in NHS.“Last year, about 10,000 Indian doctors came to UK to take a screening exam to work in NHS. But many have no jobs and some have gone back. There is no job at the junior level in NHS. Many doctors cannot get postgraduate training in India, so they are working in the UK, who are already working, who are already working.
