US President Donald Trump and first female Melania Trump met with the final living American hostage held at Gaza at the White House on Thursday. 21-year-old Aidan Alexander is an American-Israel from New Jersey. He was 19 years old and was serving as a soldier in the Israeli army when Hamas militants kidnapped him during the October 7, 2023 attack. He was posted in an Israeli infantry when Hamas kidnapped him from a military base near the Gaza border.The meeting was held at the Oval Office, where Aden Alexander was with his mother, Adi Alexander, and father, Yale Alexander, Tanafali, NJ.On Friday, Trump shared footage from his meeting on his true social stage. “It was my great honor for welcoming Aidan Alexander, held a hostage by Hamas for 584 days, in an oval office with his loved ones. We are committed to bringing every hostage home!” He has written.On May 12, 2025, 584 days after being taken into captivity, Alexander was released from Hamas captivity. After his release, Alexander stayed in Israel for several weeks before returning home to New Jersey, where his family lives.In early March, Trump met with eight former hostages, who were freed from Hamas at the White House. The group consisted of Eyar Horn, Omar Shem Tove, Ellie Shabi, Keith Seigel, Aviva Segal, Nama Levi, Dorna Steinbrecher and Noa Argamani.
