The Tropical Storm Chantal gained some strength as it reached the south -east coast of the United States on Sunday, leading to weather warnings in South Carolina and parts of North Carolina. The storm is expected to cause heavy rains and a flash floods near the landfall.According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, the Chantal was located about 75 miles (120 km) from Charleston, South Carolina and about 85 miles (136 km) in South -West, Wilmington in South -West, South -West of Northern Carolina. The storm was moving northward at 8 mph (13 kilometers per hour), with maximum continuous winds 60 mph (96 km per hour).The rain bands associated with the storm had already begun to pursue the ashes, and the officials warned that the possibility of flash floods was increasing. The system is forecast to make landfalls in South Carolina within the next few hours, which is expected to weaken rapidly as it proceeds inland.Heavy rainfall is estimated in parts of northern Carolina through Monday. The forecasts predict the total accumulation of 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm), receiving 6 inches (15 cm) in some areas, increasing concern over local floods.The Emergency Management Division of South Carolina warned the first residents about the risk of isolated tornado with coastal areas and minor coastal floods.
