Former Naval Commando Praveen Kumar Teotia, who led the operations during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, criticized MNS chief Raj Thackeray and his party amidst the row running on the Marathi language. In response to Raj and Udhav Thackeray’s recent rally, Teotia said, “When the 26/11 terrorist attack took place, their (MNS) so -called warriors hid and could not be found anywhere. He said that those who saved others, such as army personnel, are mainly from UP and Bihar … I was there, handled the situation, and faced the terrorists. I am also from above and come from a village in Chaudhary Charan Singh. ,While he is proud of the Marathi language, Teotia said that language should be kept separate from politics.“Do not teach us politics. Different politics from language. We are proud of Marathi, but people should not politicize it. If you want to do politics, then focus on developmental work and jobs.”Former Marine also criticized Raj Thackeray and MNS, alleging that he had not done any developmental work so far.Taking into the social media platform X, Teotia recalled the 26/11 attacks, saying that he had shed blood for Maharashtra despite being from another state, and urged people not to divide the nation.“I saved Mumbai on 26/11. I am bleeding for Maharashtra. I am from above. I saved the Taj Hotel. Where were Raj Thackeray’s so -called warriors? Do not divide the nation. Smile does not need any language.”In a separate post, he expressed pride in Marathi language and Maratha warriors, urging people not to let “losers” make divisions. On 16 April, GR made Hindi compulsory as the third language for classes 1 to 5 in English and Marathi medium schools. However, after the protest, the state amended the GR on 17 June to make Hindi optional. Eventually, both the original and modified GRS were fully scraped on 29 June.At the “Jeet” rally of 29 June, Raj Thackeray said, “I have nothing against Hindi, no language is bad. It makes a lot of efforts to create a language. We Marathi people ruled many states during the Maratha Empire, but we never implemented Marathi on those parts. Maharashtra.,The event, held at NSCI Dome in Worli, avoided party flags and symbols and was introduced as a joint cultural stand by Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS.
