We have the fastest 5G rollout with 99.6% districts and now 82% population. We have made our 4G stack. BSNL has installed 94,500 towers and has 80–85% commissions. We are working towards leading the world on 6G.BSNL is seen as the next Air India. What is being done to ensure that it remains financially viable and a relevant player in the market?■ After 18 years BSNL has done a turnaround, posting quarterly benefits for the first time since 2007. In the December quarter, it posted a profit of Rs 262 crore and in the March quarter, the profit was Rs 280 crore. For the whole year, the loss has come below 55% Rs 2,415 crore; The operational benefits have exceeded Rs 5,395 crore. It has done the largest capex of Rs 25,000 crore in FY 25, which will be reflected in 10 years. It has rolled out 4G. We have increased our customer base, focusing on all areas and all regions.You talked about avoiding dupoplies …■ India is not a duality. We have only a few markets in the world with four players. My responsibility as a minister is to ensure that customers have an option, whether it is internet or telecommunications.Vodafone idea is very critical. What is the new support plan?■ There will be no other conversion of equity. His business strategy as BSNL management is the company’s management to look at profitability.You have a plan to make the postal department a profit center. Is this possible at all?■ We have revived a commercial process and converted the department into six vertical and four horizontal to mail, international mail, parcel, postal life insurance, post office saving bank and citizen centric services. Every transaction now has a cost structure and we are mapping revenue. We are looking at six strategic business units with profit and loss for each. We are then setting the route for profitability for each of them. We are working on 2.0 on it and for the first time we have hired a Chief Technology Officer with Deputy CTO for each vertical. I am turning it into a logistics organization with a huge reach of post offices worth 1.6 lakh crore crore. Today, our cost structure is Rs 27,000 crore and revenue is around Rs 12,000 crore.How do you compete with courier? ■ No one has the width and depth of the Bharat Post at the international level. We are bringing new mail and parcel products; We will distribute within 24 hours. We are approaching mutual funds to distribute their products. There should be a mentality change and for this I am meeting the ground level employees.Is there a plan to issue Prime Real Estate?■ Whether it is telecom or the department of positions, we need to sweat our property. Therefore, if you have a large piece of land, you can do the post office on the ground floor and construct the entire building and lease the location. The first thing is that we are understanding how many qualities we have, we are checking where the title letters, mutation details and to identify the major potential qualities before receiving a developer.What is the department doing to improve telecom services?■ Improves the quality of service (Qos) is one of my top priorities.
