Head-on collision on Nigeria highway: 21 killed in accidents; Truck hits the passenger vehicle on the wrong lane

Federal Road Safety Corps said that at least 21 people were killed in a road accident in Northwestern Kano state of Nigeria on Sunday.Initial investigation revealed that a commercial passenger vehicle was driving against traffic on the Zaria-Karo Expressway, violating the established road safety rules. The vehicle then hit the head with a heavy truck.The commercial driver “established traffic rules, went against the traffic flow, resulting in a deadly head with the upcoming truck,” AP quoted the Federal Road Safety Corps.Only three of the passengers survived the accident with three injuries. The victims included 19 men and two women.Malignant road accidents occur on the highways of Nigeria. According to the agency’s 2024 data, 5,421 people have died in 9,570 road incidents across the country so far this year.
