India news up to 20% in 1 3 months of this financial year collected through NH toll fastag

New Delhi: According to data from the National Electronic Toll Collection, compared to Rs 17,280 crore in the relevant period of 2024-25, the toll collected has increased by about 20% – the toll collected by a fastag on national and state highways in the first three months of the current financial year.About 80% of the toll collection (about Rs 17,000 crore) is made from NH users. The increase in toll collection is because more highway stretch has been brought under toling, and the user fee has been amended.Officials said that although they hope that the current trend of increasing toll collection would bring more revenue for NHAI and other road -owned agencies, it would depend on how many private car owners choose for annual toll passes, which the government had recently declared. The toll pass will cost Rs 3,000 to cross 200 toll plazas (counted as a trip) and will be rolled out from August 15.
