Defense manufacturing can increase in the global power of India: Ram Madhav | Bharat News

In a comprehensive conversation with the Times of India, Ram Madhav, Senior RSS member, underlined the strategic regeneration, which India should work to navigate a changing global order. From foreign policy to technology, economic development for ideological values, and the Northeast, the Dharmashastra, Madhav, who is also the head of the Think Tank India Foundation, reflects India’s opportunities and challenges in the coming decades. In your new book, ‘The New World: 21st Century Global Order and India’, you speak of a global churning. What is the biggest priority for India in this new world system?Ram Madhav: A big churn is happening globally. After seven decades of a certain type of geopolitical environment, the world is moving towards a completely different order. When you face a new order, you should excuse some old habits and practices. I often cite Mao’s notorious cultural revolution – not to support it, but as a metaphor. You need to think.Historically, Indians are very comfortable in the West and America towards the West. We have strong relations with them. But an innings with Narasimha Rao began and the look was taken forward by Vajpayee through the East Policy, which Modi upgraded to the ACT East. However, we are still primarily west. Meanwhile, the entire Eurasian region is in upheaval-Ukraine-Russia Conflict, Gaza-Israel Tension and Iran-Israel-US collision. These struggles may end, but their effect will last for decades. In such a scenario, India should turn to its immediate and expanded neighborhood – Southeast Asia, ASEAN and then global South, including Global South, Africa and Latin America. What will be national development in this new environment?Madhav: In the past, trade – especially in goods – national development. Now, it will be technology. Prime Minister Modi has focused the correct focus on it with emphasis on areas like National Research Foundation and areas like Quantum Technology. But we still have a lot of land to cover. Domestic, we should give priority to the economy over the next 20 years – Bill Clinton said that there is something famous that: “This is the economy, stupid.,Take China – Between 1980 and 2000, it was completely focused on economic growth. Deng Shiaoping also caught communism to prioritize economic development. India should target for 9–10% increase. The current is 8% good, but we should aspire for more. What about defense construction?Madhav: This is a big opportunity. Everyone talks about India’s weakness in manufacturing, and this is true. But manufacturing has saturated globally, defense manufacturing has great potential. India is a major consumer of defense equipment. Given the atmosphere of the current global war, every nation is increasing its defense. This is not only a golden opportunity for ‘Make in India’ but also for ‘Make for the World’. This is where we can become a manufacturing powerhouse. You talked about building “brand India”. What is that?Madhav: In the outgoing world order-after World War-II-Western powers created alliances with their interests and were able to determine their agenda. But today, West is no longer in a position to determine the global agenda. If India does not take an active role, then other people like China will do. India should not only vocal itself as an economic and technical power, but also ideologically.Democracy is such an idea. The Chinese model provides economic freedom but not political freedom. We have different – complete freedom, contained in pluralism, respect for sovereignty, patriotism and stability. These are values that India should clarify. Take yoga – This is an idea that we gave to the world. Gandhi’s last deep political view from India was Gandhi’s non -violence. Now we should think about the next idea. This is what I mean by brand Bharata. You have also used the word ‘theology’. Can you explain it?Madhav: Democracy, in its western sense, is often equal to prominence – majority victory, period. In a theology, a majority can form a government, but the regime should be through consensus. Gandhi’s idea about Ram Rajya was not a democracy – it was a model where the weakest had the strongest power. Desayal Upadhyay also said that elections are prominent, but the government should be unanimously operated. This is the Indian model – theology. Can foreign universities in India help promote India?Madhav: Absolutely. Earlier, foreign dignitaries visiting India were taken to Qutub Minar or Red Fort – symbols of our subjugation. Today, they also visit temples, participate in the Ganges Aarti. This is our civilized identity. But we can build it on it. Along with about 100 foreign institutions, now permission to open campuses in India will be allowed to join India from inside. However, they will teach most Indian students. Therefore, our education system should consciously integrate brand India thinking. The RSS is entering its 100th year. What is happening next?Madhav: Formal centenary celebrations begin in October. Sarsghchalak will then share the vision. But as has been associated with RSS for decades, I can say this: it is a unique organization. In 100 years, no division has occurred, there is no disagreement, no is weak – only development. It is completely voluntary. No one is paid. It is run by those who see it as a duty. Its openness, adaptability and relevance are its strength in every era. Whether during the 1962 war, Emergency, or Ram Janmabhumi movement – RSS was central for the national life of India. It is an organization that deserves academic study in itself. You have worked extensively in the Northeast. What is political change there?Madhav: I do not believe in right-left binergies. But yes, the rise of BJP and nationalist sentiments in the Northeast, especially in the last 10 years, has brought emotional integration with the rest of India. Earlier, there people felt that Delhi is another country. he changed. Under PM Modi, every week a minister visited some state. This continuous engagement created a sense of belongingness. When we contested in Nagaland in 2017, BJP flags were also seen in remote villages. We won 12 out of 20 seats, which we contested. Such change indications, in addition to representing BJP’s appeal, a deep emotional integration. And the role of RSS there?Madhav: The RSS has worked there under extremely difficult circumstances. The cadre was kidnapped, tortured, even killed. Still they left from all over India – from Kerala, Maharashtra – to serve those areas, often with knowledge of local languages or familiarity of food habits. Organizations like Vivekananda Center and Ramakrishna Mission played an important role in tribal education and cultural pride.Today, Arunachal Pradesh, for example, communicates in Hindi. It was not implemented – it naturally developed due to years of engagement. That silent basic work put the region together in its most delicate time.
