New Delhi: Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of Investigation (AAIB) on Tuesday presented its preliminary report on the AI171 aircraft accident to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and concerned officials. The report filed is based on the initial findings of the investigation, citing top sources, news agency Annie.Meanwhile, an important meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament (PAC) is scheduled for today, along with top officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Civil Aviation Secretary and Director General of Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The recent Air India flight in Ahmedabad is also likely to come during the AI-171 accident meeting, as well as widespread concerns over aviation security.Sources confirmed ANI that the Civil Aviation Secretary and Representatives of DGCA had been called. However, the primary focus of the meeting, in addition to the security concerns in the aviation sector, how the passenger fees, airline fees and other tariffs are prescribed and regulated for public infrastructure and services of the airport.On 12 June, London-Bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed immediately after the takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The aircraft collided with a hostel complex at Bij Medical College, killing 241 out of 242. The victims were former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.Since the accident, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has been assisting the Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (AAIB), which is investigating on a full scale. Aaib is working in its laboratory in New Delhi and is equipped with advanced technology, leading the investigation.According to the ministry, the crash protection module from one of the black boxes of the aircraft was recovered and accessed by June 25, and its data has been successfully downloaded. A source told ANI, a similar black box, referred to as “Golden Chassis”, was used to confirm whether the data could be accurately recovered from the original black box.The investigation team consists of experts from the Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and the US -based National Transport Safety Board (NTSB). Additionally, Boeing, GE, Aviation Medicine experts and officials of air traffic control experts are included. ICAO Annexes 13 and India’s aircraft (investigations of accidents and events) are being investigated under the International criteria prescribed in 2017.
