New Delhi: The latest call has come out that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar should be elevated to the top post, barely a few days after the leadership of the Congress, there will be no leadership change in Karnataka. Two Congress MLAs have now publicly thrown their weight behind them, which indicates renewed tension within the state unit.Senior leader and former minister Tanveer SAT said that the party should be open to change. “I think the leadership may not be stable. The new leadership has to come and grow. Whenever the opportunity is given, this will happen. But the person giving personal statements should not be considered as protest,” SAT said.

Congress MLA CP Yogeshwar resonated Bhavna and supported Shivkumar for the role of Chief Minister.He said, “All our district MLAs are united that DK should become Chief Minister. There are no discrepancies about it. High command should decide on it,” he said.

AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjevala reiterated that there will be no change and Siddaramaiah will continue as the Chief Minister.Earlier, Congress MLA Ha Iqbal Hussain could have made Shivkumar the CM within two to three months.Hussain said, “You all know what was our (Congress) strength before this government came to power.He said, “I don’t believe in speculation. We are confident that the high command is aware of the situation and will take a reasonable decision at the right time to give him a chance.”Asked whether this year Shivkumar will be given the CM post this year, Hussain said: “Yes, I am saying this. Some leaders are pointing for revolutionary political development after September, this is what they are talking about. A decision will be made within two to three months.”“This is what I am saying. I am not beating around the bush; I am speaking directly,” he insisted.When it was reminded that Siddaramaiah’s son, MLC Yatindra Siddaramaiah dismissed the discussion as speculative, Hussain pointed out the examples of the party’s central leadership to make a final call during the 2023 government formation.“We were all together in Delhi. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikrajun Kharge decided. Everyone knows that they will also take the next decision – we have to wait and see,” he said.Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and DK Shivkumar later demonstrated unity together in front of the media.
