Fabio Phogni announces retirement after defeat to Carlos Alkaraz in Wimbledon

Fabio Phogni on Wednesday announced his retirement from tennis in Wimbledon, as one of the most colorful characters of the game said time on his unstable career.In May, Phogni revealed to Rome Masters in May that he had planned to retire in the next 12 months.The 38 -year -old Italian has carried on the decision, in his last match last week, the first round at the All England Club ended in a five -set defeat against the defending Wimbledon Champion Carlos Alkraj.“Today something is official. Phogni’s career-high in the ATP rankings was ninth in 2019, while he won nine ATP tour titles, including his only Masters 1000 Triumph in Monte Carlo in 2019. He enjoyed the return of a memorable five set against Rafael Nadal at the US Open in 2015 and defeated Andy Murray, a world number one in Rome in 2017.Phogni was famous for his unexpected behavior in court, voluntarily described himself as a hothed.
