New Delhi: In a special message read at a day’s conference held here to mark his 90th birthday, the Dalai Lama said that “we Tibetans” are depths for the warm hospitality shown since 1959 and were depths for the people of India and the people of India, even indirectly interrogated the claims of China.The Tibetan spiritual leader recalled how it had been more than 66 years since a large number of Tibetans, ran to India after the “Chinese Communist invasion of Tibet”.Referring to India as “Arya Bhumi” in his written message read by his confidant and noted scholar Samdong Rinpoche, the Dalai Lama said that “here (India) I have enjoyed the freedom and opportunity of ancient Indian knowledge to continue my study”. He said that a “special proximity” felt for India, which is the largest population country in the world and the largest democracy, the land of Buddha, the place where he attained enlightenment.The 14th Dalai Lama, reflecting the intensive impact on the world, adopted an announcement adopted at the conference organized by the International Buddhist Confederation and participated by around 500 participants, including famous Buddhist monks and scholars, constantly designed for the conservation of rich Tibetan culture and religious freedom.The announcement stated, “His (Dalai Lama) recent statement announced the continuity of his rebirth, and only the Tibetan is a will to preserve his culture and heritage without any foreign intervention,” the announcement states. He said, “His intellect in the safety of the holy institution of Dalai Lama – especially his clear and courageous stance on his future – stands as a spiritual integrity in the modern world,” said this.In his message, the Dalai Lama said, “I believe that if the aspects of the ancient knowledge of India, the teachings of the Buddha are a part, are associated with modern education, then they can make a beneficial contribution to more peace and happiness in the world”.Recalling that we came to India immediately after “we Tibetans”, the Dalai Lama said that the Indian government supported the establishment of schools to get modern education for Tibetan children, while learning about Tibetan culture and traditions.
