BJP MLA protest in Jammu on mandatory Urdu for Naib Tehsildar posts, demand rollback | Bharat News

Jammu: BJP MLAs staged a protest outside the Civil Secretariat in Jammu on Monday, demanding that Urdu be mandated as a compulsory language for Naib Tehsildar Recruitment Examination in Jammu and Kashmir.The MLAs reached the secretariat in the morning and staged a dharna, giving discriminatory and harmful orders for the interests of the youth of Jammu. Highlighting the injustice against the youth of Jammu, Dogras and other official languages of the center region, he raised slogans against the government and CM Omar Abdullah, accusing his party, national conference, trying to create unrest in the region.Speaking to the media, Sunil Sharma said that this policy has serious injustice against eligible candidates, which are otherwise eligible, but are being excluded on the basis of language preference. “It is not only about language; it is about rights, opportunities and equal treatment. Why should J&K make proficiency in Urdu mandatory when there are many other official languages?” He asked.Former minister Sham Lal Sharma said: “Kashmir-centered parties, especially NC, have been discriminating against the Jammu region for decades. This is a new example of this.”He alleged that it was a clear effort to issue such an order to the youth of Jammu to deny jobs. He said, “We are protesting to cancel it. The youth are already protesting on the streets. The matter has also been brought on the notice of the Lieutenant Governor, and the Memorandums have been presented through the deputy commissioners, but nothing has been done so far,” he said.Sharma said that 14 BJP MLAs also met CM Omar on this issue. He said, “His approach was positive, but no action has been taken so far, and tomorrow is the last day to apply for the posts. They are trying to create unrest in Jammu and are forcing us to go on the movement,” he said.“We are warning the government not to play with the sentiments of the people of Jammu, who are fed up with the discriminatory attitude of the Kashmir-centered rulers,” he said.
