Police said a couple from a southern California had been accused of child crisis and neglect, when the authorities removed more than 20 children from their Arcadia house, most of whom were allegedly born through surrogacy, police said.According to the Arcadia Police Department, the children were between two months and 13 years, most with falling into the age limit of one to three years. In May, arrest warrants were issued for Gujun Juan, 65 and his wife Sylvia Zhang, 38, as well as his grandmother Chunmi Lee, 56. Zuan and Zhang were arrested without an incident, but Lee is still on a large scale, CBS News reported. Fifteen children were taken into protective custody by children and family service department, while other couples or family members went to live with friends. It is not clear that the family intends to keep children elsewhere in permanent houses or raises them themselves. However, the mother allegedly stated that she always dreamed of being a very large family according to investigators. Investigators believe that surrogate mothers were located across the country and did not know that they were carrying fetus for the same couple. The police department said that the officers were alerted for a possible child abuse case by a local hospital on 7 May. On arrival, he came to know that a two -month -old baby was admitted with a painful head injury and intracranial bleeding.Detectives then raided the residence in Arcadia, where they collected surveillance camera footage according to the department.“On reviewing the footage, the spies noticed that a granny employed by the child’s parents violated on May 5, 2025 and killed the baby, resulting in a child consciousness,” said the police news release said. Investigators said that even though the couple knew about the child’s injury, they did not take medical help immediately. Two days later, he brought the baby to the hospital only after seizure of the child. The surveillance camera footage also found that other nanis employed by the couple were seen abusing the children. Neighbors stated that the property of 10,000 square feet, where couples lived, had a value of about 4 million dollars, resembling a hotel, which was completed with a lobby and suite-style room in their nine bedrooms.“And (this is like a round), which I can only describe as a hotel desk and like a clerk sitting behind a gentleman,” Art Romero said, who lives nearby.Zhang has denied the allegations that the officials are misguided and wrong. “We are ready to fulfill any such claim at the appropriate time and if any action is taken, he said that KTLA said.“It’s frightening, it is disturbing, it is emotionally harmful,” one of the surrogate mothers of an infant, Kayla Elliot, said, ABC7 said.
