The British Heavy-Metal Icon Ozi Osbourne, known for his dark stage personality and the prestigious role as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, died at the age of 76 on Tuesday-a few weeks after the performance of his farewell show. In a statement, his family said: “It is more sad than the words that we can share the news of the passing of OG Osbourne this morning. He was surrounded by his family and love. We request privacy during this difficult time.”Osbourne’s death comes a few weeks after his last live show. He was struggling with health issues in recent years, including Parkinson’s disease, which he revealed in 2020.

Often seen in all black or shirtless on stage, Osborn is known for its dark image and shocking behavior, including cutting the head with the bat during a concert once. However controversial, he later showed a soft side on reality show The Osbornness, which depicted him as a careful father. The first film of Black Sabbath’s self-examination 1969 is widely seen as the early point of heavy metal music. Sabbath brought a deep, heavy sound to rock music. His second album, Paranoid included famous songs such as “Iron Man” and “War Pigs”, and became a significant impact for generations of the metal band. Osbourne was removed from the band in 1979 due to its mythological excesses, such as showing late to rehearsals and missing gigs. He started a successful single career, with hit albums such as the Blizard of Oz and Diary of a Madman. His solo songs “Crazy Train” and “Flying High Again” are fan favorite. He was included twice in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – with Sabbath in 2006 and then as a single artist in 2024. In July 2025, Osbourne re -joined his farewell show with the original members of Black Sabbath. Metalica, Guns N ‘Roses, Tools and many others performed in the concert, which attracted tens of thousand fans. Panera’s frontman Phil Anslmo said, “I will not stay here without Black Sabbath.”
