New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced an increase in the pension of recognized journalists in the state under the ‘Bihar Patkar Saman Pension Scheme’.In a social media post on X, Nitish said that the monthly pension will be increased from Rs 6,000 to 15,000 to all eligible journalists.“I am happy to say that under the ‘Bihar Patkar Saman Pension Scheme’, the department has been instructed to provide a monthly pension of Rs 15,000 instead of Rs 6,000 to all eligible journalists.”He said, “In addition, in the event of the death of journalists receiving pension under the ‘Bihar Patkar Samman Pension Scheme’, their dependent spouse has been instructed to provide a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 3,000 for their lifetime,” he said.Beyond the upcoming assembly elections, Nitish has started a hurry of social security schemes in the state. Earlier in July, the Bihar government also announced a provision of free electricity of 125 units for domestic consumers. To reduce the financial impact of free power, Nitish announced that the government would promote solar energy through two schemes where 50% central subsidy for roof solar panels and related equipment was provided.
