India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reached an unwanted milestone during the ongoing fourth test against England at Old Trafford, scoring more than 100 runs in his career for the first time in his career. As started again at day 4, Bumrah’s figures stayed at 1 for 109 out of 31 overs, England were still batting and wanted to expand their 186 -run lead. His previous most expensive innings came out against Australia in 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he took 99 runs in 28.4 overs taking four wickets.

Manchester weather forecast – rain, cold winds in store at 4 days and day 5

This is also the second time when Bumrah has bowled more than 30 over in the same Test innings. The last was in 2021, when he bowled 36 overs against England in Chennai. What is adding to anxiety is a visible decline in the speed of Bumrah. In Old Trafford, one of his 173 delivery has crossed 140 km per hour – a sharp decline from earlier tests in the series. At day 3, Bumrah had left the ground for some time after just one over bowling with the second new ball, allegedly due to a minor ankle injury. He later returned during the day and took Jamie Smith’s wicket, but looked far away from his normal rhythm. Despite taking 14 wickets in the series so far, Bumrah’s recent dip in speed and sharpness has raised new questions about his fitness. With the command and match slipping in England, India would be hoping that their speed spears can still make a difference.
