New Delhi: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday that India should focus on becoming powerful and economically strong, saying that the world respects strength and not only ideals. Addressing a National Education Conference in Kochi, God announced that India should no longer be the “golden bird” of the past, but should now turn into a “a lion”.“This is necessary because the world understands the power. So Bharat should become strong. It has to be rich from an economic point of view,” Bhagwat said in the ‘Gyan Sabha’ organized by the RSS-Shikha Shikha Sanskrit Sanskrit.Emphasizing the national identity, God said that “India” is a proper noun and should not be translated. “India is Bharat. This is true. But Bharat is Bharat. That is why, while talking and speaking, it should be personal or public, we should keep Bharat as India,” he said.He insisted that the identity of a country should be preserved to honor it. “India’s identity is respected because it is India. If you lose your identity, whatever other qualities you can have, you will never be respected or safe in this world. It is a rule of thumb,” he said.The RSS chief also talked about the purpose of education, saying that it should be equipped with individuals to live independently and contribute to society. “Indian education teaches to sacrifice and live for others,” he said, saying that anything that promotes selfishness cannot be called true education.Bhagwat further said that education is not limited to schooling, but also includes environment within home and society. He urged the society to reflect the necessary environment to responsible for future generations and to increase confidence.The conference was attended by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, academics and Vice Chancellor of various universities.
