27 -member Indian Wushu team stuck in Shanghai after typhoon. More sports news

New Delhi: A 27-member Indian Wushu Dal is stranded after a Landfall of Typhoon cum-May in Shanghai, causing hundreds of flights and disrupted roads and rail connectivity to China.The Junior Wushu team has been accommodated in a hotel in Shanghai amidst fear of coast bouncing as the tropical storm was washed away through several eastern Chinese cities. According to a team official, a strong 8.8-Panchalata earthquake triggered a cyclone alert with parts of the Chinese coast.The Indian team was to compete in the 12th Asian Junior Wushu Championships in China, which was held from 23 to 30 July in the Vuci City, Jiangsu province of Jiangin. India won a total of nine medals in the tournament, including one gold, five silver and three bronze.The team traveled from Jiangin to Shanghai by road and was scheduled to depart the city for a connecting flight in Hong Kong on Wednesday. However, on his arrival in Shanghai, he was informed that the flight was canceled due to typhoon cum-Maya.“In Shanghai, it was scary due to landfall. The streets were laid down and people were asked to stay indoors by the authorities. We spent 4-5 hours at Shanghai Airport, before we were told that our flight has been canceled, as well as with many others.”The official said that the team is being confirmed by the airline about their re -scheduled flight.Indian Medal winner: Gold: Roshan; Silver: Aisha, Ravichandra, Yichenba Nanquan, Devikarni Taiichi, Devikrani Taiichijian; Bronze: Abhijeet, Bipul and Sveta.
