‘System is Broken’: Kamala Harris indicated to step away from politics; California Governor Run Out

In an extended interview on the late show with Stephen Colbert, US vice -president Harris revealed the reason behind his decision not to walk for any political office, including the Governorship of California.Harris said that he chose to get away from politics as he believes the system “broke.” After years of working inside the government, he no longer feels that the basic principles are strong enough to protect the major democratic values. Colbert said Herris was leading the initial elections by a widespread margin and asked why she was choosing to move away, questioning whether she was keeping the door open to another political role. The former VP replied, “I am a devout public servant. I have spent my entire career in the service of the people. And I have thought a lot about running for the governor. I love my kingdom. I love California. I have served as chosen district Attorney, Attorney General and Sanetor.“Why is a point that I have created, so why is it when we wonder that we want to improve a system or change it that we are always on a knee on a knee or trying to break the door? Do we not even be inside the system? And it has been my career,” he said.
However, for now, Harris said that she no longer believes in the ability of the system of changing.“Recently I decided that I do not want to go back to the system right now. I think it is broken.” She was in a hurry to clarify that her frustration was not directed to those working in a public service place, “who do such good things” like teachers and firefighters and police officers and police officers and nurses and scientists.“And so it’s not about them.” But, he said, “I always believed that our democracy is delicate, our systems would be strong enough to protect our fundamental principles. And I just think they are not as strong as they should be.” Listing several credentials from Harris, Colbert said that someone was annoying to hear such a statement “very worthy of the presidential”. “You have to hear that it is broken … that our systems are not quite strong … are annoying,” Colbert said. Harris replied, “Okay, but this is also clear, not this?”, “I am always going to be a part of the fight. It’s not going to change. I am going to be a part of the fight completely.”His decision not to run for the Governor of California in 2026 ends the speculation of months and focuses on his possible role in the 2028 presidential race. For now, however, Harris says that she is focusing on traveling to the country, attached to people, not asking for votes, but listening.“I want to travel to the country. I want to listen to people. I want to talk with people. And I do not want this transaction where I am asking for their vote.” The interview follows Harris’s upcoming memoirs, 107 Days declaration, which is to be released by Simon & Shuster on 23 September, who briefly describes his abbreviation for the presidency and shows the scene behind that campaign. “It was a deep experience,” said Harris. “The President had to run in a way that no one had run before. Okay, the President, to run for the period, but of course that no one did not do first in 107 days.” Colbert asked that he was most surprised about those 107 days, given that the public has little understanding of what is really a demand for such a campaign. “People don’t know what the President likes to run,” Colbert said. “As you said, the way you ran was very unique … which surprises you the most in those 107 days or what do you want?” Harris replied, “Okay, one, I mean, just again, to be very clear, my prayer was to ask God every night, I hope I have done everything I can do today.”
