New Delhi: According to an official statement, an encounter took place between security forces and terrorists in Akhhal area of Kulgam district of Kashmir on Friday.Jammu and Kashmir Police said that a joint team that includes personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG), Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who are actively engaged in anti -terrorism operations.The police officer said that security forces started a cordon and search operation in the forest area in Akhhal in South Kashmir district, which after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists there, a police officer said.He said that after the terrorists set the forces on fire, the search operation turned into an encounter, who retaliated.Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on X, "The encounter has started in Akhhal region of District #Kulgam.Media reports suggest that two to three terrorists may be involved in the gun fight on suspicion of being a foreign national.This is a developing story.
