India enjoyed mixed fate at the Macau Open on Friday, progressing in the semi -finals of solo shuttler Laxman Sen and Tharun Mannapallie, while the men’s doubles pair of Satwikasairaj RandidD and Chirag Shetty faced an early drainage. Thruun, which has been the amazing package of the tournament, continued his effective form in a difficult-to-three-game encounter to lose the current junior world champion of China.The 23-year-old Indian took the initial game comfortably, stumbled into the second, but held his nerve to win 21–12, 13–21, 21-18 and sealed one in the final four. Earlier in the tournament, Tharun shocked Hong Kong’s top seed Lee Cheauk Yiyu. He will now face Malaysia’s Justin Hoh in the semi -finals on Saturday, a player he defeated at the Thailand Open earlier this year. India’s top -ranked single player and Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier Laxman Sen also booked his semi -final berth after a serious victory over China’s Zuan Chen Zhu. Sen finished 17th in the world, took the match 21–14, 18–21, 21-14 in more than an hour. It marks his deepest run at the BWF World Tour event this season. He will face Indonesia’s Alvi Farhan for a place in the final.
