Bengaluru: Indians’ exile from America has increased significantly because there is no secret after Donald Trump returns to office in January this year. It is now reported here how much it is compared to the word Biden and compared to the final year of Trump’s last term: on average, at least 8 Indians were sent back everyday this year, while about 3 daily between January 2020 and December 2024. According to data from the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea), in five and a half years between January 2020 and July 2025, 7,244 Indians were deported for various reasons, and about a quarter of them were sent back after taking charge of Trump for the second time. This growth also coincides with a more aggressive enforcement mechanism. On 26 June, the US State Department reminded people that the visa screening does not stop after the visa is released. “… We constantly check for visa holders to ensure that they all follow American laws and immigration rules – and we will cancel their visa and will deport them if they do not.”
Although it was for legal immigrants, a few days before this statement, the US said: “The US has increased the enforcement of immigration laws and the removal of illegal aliens. Illegal entry will have custody, exile and permanent consequences for future visa eligibility … You will come back to your home for an expensive and dangerous journey.”This year 1,703 exiled, 864 exile occurred according to mea, through state-based charter and military flights. US Customs and Border Security (military flights) returned 333 people on three dates in February: 5, 15, and 16. American Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice), through its enforcement and removal operations, deported a total of 231 persons through chartered flights on 19 March, 8 June and 25 June. The Homeland Security Department (DHS) also exile through charter flights, sent 300 people back to India on 5 and 18 July.
Human exile
W.Hile 747 individuals were deported through commercial flights from the US – they arrived individually or in small groups, depending on when their flight tickets were arranged – a one and 72 persons came through a similar manner from Panama in a similar manner through commercial flights.India does not maintain its own firm projections of illegal immigration in the US. And till now the consular and exile practice is concerned, it depends on the information shared by the American authorities.The MEA has stated that “it is associated with American counterparts to ensure that exile is done humanly. It has expressed concern about the use of huts on especially on women and children, and other issues related to cultural and religious sensitivity.”
90% from 5 states
Furthermore, a state-wise analysis of 1,703 Indian exile in 2025 suggests that this trend has been huge diabolical towards some northern states. Punjab topped the list with 620 deports, followed by Haryana with 604 as well as accounting for more than 70% in all cases. Gujarat was a distant third, with 245 persons back, while Uttar Pradesh and Goa chased with 38 and 26 exile respectively. These top five states collectively represent more than 90% of all exile recorded this year.The remaining states and UTS reported very few cases. In Maharashtra and Delhi, there were 20 exile in each, Telangana 19, Tamil Nadu 17, and Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand 12 each. Karnataka saw only 5.
