New Delhi: Due to heavy rains in Ghaziabad, there was a flood in the hostels of Abs Engineering College girls on Wednesday night, showing water in viral video rooms and corridors.The floods caused significant damage to the students’ goods, including clothes, books, documents, laptops and mobile phones. Many videos raised by the students spread quickly on social media, shown soaked beds and personal belongings, scattered in rooms. Hostel corridors used to meet shallow streams, some students were trying to protect their valuables. In some clips, the students were seen climbing the stairs as the water fell down rapidly, causing the steps to be seen hard.Overnight rains disrupted daily life in some parts of Ghaziabad, the floods of residential societies and the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) office. Despite the recession, the morning traffic was mostly unaffected as the civic teams used diveting pumps in 60 waterlogging spots including UP Gate and Lal Kuan. The cellar of the GDA office on Hapur Road, which stores several official files, was submerged under several feet of water. Although suction pumps were brought quickly, hundreds of files were allegedly damaged before the water was cleaned.The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning for Ghaziabad and nearby areas, with heavy rains, thunderstorms, and power warnings until Friday.
