TMC Food Escalets: Kalyan Banerjee left as party chief whip; Slams Mahua Moitra’s ‘derogatory’ comment | Bharat News

New Delhi: Senior Trinumool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee on Monday described the news agency PTI, citing party sources. His resignation comes against the background of the ongoing public quarrel with fellow party MP Mahua Motra.A few minutes before the news of his resignation surfaced, Banerjee, who represented Serampore in the Lok Sabha, took to the social media platform X for criticizing Moitra on his alleged comments made during a recent public podcast. He accused him of using “dehumanizing language” and compared his comments to “lump sum abuse”.Banerjee said, “I have noticed the recent personal comments made by Ms. Mahua Motra in a public podcast … A fellow MP has been compared to the ‘pig’, which reflects a deep disregard for the basic norms of the civil discourse.”He defended his earlier statements, saying that he focuses on the questions of public accountability and conduct, and was not wrong. “Labeling a male colleague as ‘sexually disappointed’ is not boldness, it is a lump sum abuse,” he said.Banerjee further claimed that Motra was using personal attacks to avoid questions about his performance as an MP. He said, “Those who rely on abuse instead of answers are not champions of democracy, they are embarrassed.”The decline between two senior TMC leaders allegedly began in April, when Moitra faced Banerjee inside the Parliament House after a party delegation got out of the memorandum. The incident allegedly made a stressful exchange in front of other MPs and party members.Subsequently, Banerjee accused Motra of asking security personnel to arrest him and described him as “rude” and “rude”. He had earlier also raised personal questions about Motra’s married life, responding to his criticisms.TMC has not officially commented on Banerjee’s resignation or ongoing dispute.
