Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali, 24, was arrested by the Greater Manchester Police on rape charges. The incident allegedly took place on 23 July 2025 in Manchester. He was released on bail while continuing the investigation. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended him and is providing legal aid during the UK investigation.Ali’s cricket career started promising. He made his mark with Peshawar Zalmi in 2020, scoring 239 runs with more than 157 impressive strike rates. His international start was memorable, Pakistan helped Pakistan score five runs in 33 balls in Manchester.One of his international matches came against India in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, where he scored just 2 runs before he was dismissed by Hardik Pandya. During that match in October 2022, the Melbourne Cricket Ground was played, Hyder could not make a name for himself in the game because he came out for Suryakumar Yadav.Despite his explosive batting style, Ali is struggling with continuity in his career. He has played two ODIs and 35 T20Is for Pakistan. He played all the five matches of the tour, including matches before and after the alleged incident. He was designed to join the team in Australia for the T20 series, but has been replaced by Mohammad Fayy.Police said: “After receiving a report on Monday 4 August 2025 of rape, we have arrested a 24 -year -old man. It is alleged that the incident took place on Wednesday 23 July 2025 in a campus in Manchester. The person has been pending in further interrogation since then. The victim is being supported by the authorities.”The PCB stated that he provides Ali with legal aid “fully respects the legal processes and processes of the UK”. The alleged crime sentenced to a possible life in the UK.
