Protest in Kargil for Ladakh state, inclusion in 6th schedule. Bharat News

Srinagar: Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and Ladakh MP Mohmad Hanifa Jan among many people participated in a protest rally in a three -day hunger strike in Kargil on Monday, demanded the state for the UT and demanded its inclusion in the sixth program of the Constitution for a degree of autonomy.Describing the latest movement as a historic day for the Ladakh movement, Wangchuk accused Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta of conspiring to arrest him. He said, “My well -wishers told me that I would be accused of treason. When I was afraid to sit on a hunger strike at Khardung La Pass, I was not afraid of sitting on a hunger strike, then why should I be afraid to jail. It will only strengthen the Ladakhi movement,” he said.Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) organized a march in protest against the alleged delay in re -starting the dialogue process by the Center to discuss the demands of the Ladakh people. KDA officials warned of serious consequences whether any of their members and Wangchuk were arrested. This was the first such protest march when Gupta entered the LG office on 18 July.On January 2, 2023, the Union Home Ministry established a high -power committee to address major issues in Ladakh. The final round of talks held on 27 May launched an dominance policy for Ladakh with a 15 -year eligibility period starting from 2019.Since the cancellation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, and the then state of Jammu and Kashmir in two UTS, Ladakh has seen many political movements that are looking for a state for Ladakh and are included in the sixth program.
