A 100 -year -old World War II has returned to the sky in California, while operating the same type of aircraft, he once fought over 70 years ago.Retired US Air Force Colonel, who was admitted to just 18 years of age in 1942, took control of a P -51 mustang over McKinlaville, California. The legendary fighter aircraft was the same model she flew during 49 fighter missions in World War II.The historic flight was arranged by Rumble on Redwoods, a non -profit organization, dedicated to preserving the generation history and motivational future generations reported by ABC News. Peterbars’ decorated career spread three wars. After earning his pilot wings in WWII and becoming another lieutenant, he escaped from occupying by German forces and later escaped. He went to fly 76 fighter missions in the Korean war and served through the Vietnam era before retired as a colonel in 1969.During the recent flight, Peterbars and their co-pilot performed an aerial role, briefly flying as a 100-year-old veteran waved from the cockpit. After landing, he described this moment as “vital” and enriched with memories.“It was really a great experience and brought back a lot of memories,” he said. The experienced pilot also shared a powerful message for future generations. “To maintain whatever we have today, you have to do your best. Whatever efforts you make, do your best. And I wish you a lot of luck.”
