79th Independence Day: PM Modi gives the longest speech in 103 minutes; Last 98-minute record breaks. Bharat News

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday delivered the longest Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The Prime Minister addressed the nation on many issues related to India’s national interest and announced several schemes.PM Modi’s 2024 Independence Day speech, which was the first speech of his third straightforward word, lasted for 98 minutes, then the longest Independence Day speech. In 2023, he addressed the nation for about 90 minutes. In 2019, he spoke for 92 minutes – which was also the first speech of the second term. His shortest speech was in 2017 when he spoke for less than an hour. He gave his first speech as a Prime Minister in 2014, where he spoke for about 65 minutes. He spoke for 83 minutes in 2018.PM Modi on Friday surpassed Indira Gandhi’s record for the most consecutive Independence Day speeches from the Red Fort, reaching 12th consecutive position. Only the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru has given more consecutive speeches – 17 between 1947 and 1963. Indira Gandhi, who gave two terms between 1966–77 and 1980-84, addressed the nation 16 times, out of which 11 were consecutive. PM Modi, who first spoke to Red Fort in 2014, broke Manmohan Singh’s record with 11 consecutive addresses last year.Addressing the nation from the historic Red Fort, PM Modi wearing a saffron turban to lead the 79th Independence Day celebrations. With his signature nature, the PM donated a saffron turban for the 12th consecutive address from the historic Red Fort. He added a white kurta and Churidar with a saffron bonded jacket, stole a tricolor.While greeting the country, he urged citizens to work hard towards creating “developed India”. “Happy Independence Day to all. May May this day inspire us to make more hard work to realize the dreams of our freedom fighters and build a Vikasit India,” he posted on X.
