New Delhi: Karnataka Congress MLA Basavaraju vs Shivganga on Saturday claimed that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar would become the next Chief Minister of the state after December, even CM Siddaramaiah has reiterated his intention throughout the five years.“DK will become CM after December …,” Changari MLA Shivganga said, as PTI said. He has made similar statements in the past that Shivkumar can take a role in the coming days.
Shivkumar, who is also the state president of the Congress, described Shivganga’s remarks as a “violation of party discipline” and said he would be given a notice.“Despite many warnings, Shivganga continued such statements. Shivkumar said, “He will be given a notice.” No one should talk about CM Post and other issues. The MLA should follow party discipline. They should not cross the line. They have been strictly instructed in the past not to create confusion by making unnecessary statements. Despite this, Sivaganga is once again violating the party’s discipline making a statement on the matter. Therefore, they will be given a notice, “he said, as quoted by PTI.The speculation of a possible change in the post of Chief Minister has been widespread within the political circles of the state, which is affected by the reports of a power-sharing agreement between Siddaramaiah and Shivkumar.After the assembly elections in May 2023, there was a strong competition between Siddaramaiah and Shivkumar for the Chief Minister’s position. Eventually, the Congress managed to bring Shivkumar on the board as Deputy Chief Minister.
