Nainital/Dehradun: Uttarakhand HC sought a detailed report from Nainital District Magistrate and SSP after allegedly disappeared during the chairperson election in Nainital after five Congress district panchayat members in Nainital. The High Court listed the case for a hearing on Monday and said it was “shocking” that the armed police was seen from a distance, while a member was being dragged.Pushpa Negi, presidential candidate of Congress District Panchayat, along with 10 other members and party officials reached HC, alleging that five members were prevented from reaching the booth. His lawyer played a video in the court, in which a member was pulled by unknown men. SSP PN Meena and DM Vandana Singh told HC that they have not seen the video yet.SP Jagdish Chandra said that a case was registered against unidentified persons under sections BNS section 140 (3) (wrong restraint with general intent), 174 (non-state in obedience for an order from a public servant), 221 (deliberately failed by a public servant bound by a public servant), and 223 (escaped). He said that the police was actively searching for five members.
