New Delhi: Despite Lucknow Super Giants‘(LSG) disappointment of eight wicket defeat Punjab kings (PBK) in 2025 IPL, owner of franchise Sanjeev Goenka Rishabh Pant has his faith in the leadership abilities.
He gave a stirring message – one that not only inspired his squad, but also highlighted his unwavering belief in the skipper’s ability.
In a conversation with Star Sports, Goenka made a striking announcement: “The moment we knew that he (Rishabh) is not being retained, we have planned the team around him. I have said this earlier, and I don’t hesitate to say this: I am confident that he is a great leader. His best leadership is coming. So 27, 27, if he is 27, if he is 27, if he is 27,
Goenka insisted that Pant’s leadership journey is still coming out, and the LSG has been completely invested in his aggressive, instinct-operated style. He said, “We were very clear – we needed a leader who rely and supports his tendency, which is fearless, which is destructive. And in Rishabh, we get all that,” he said.
Pants, however, finished a hard outing against Punjab, managed only two runs. The LSG top order collapsed, in which Mitchell Marsh was falling for a golden duck, but a gritty 65-rorn stand between Nicholas Gorn (44) and Ayush Badoni (41) helped stabilize the innings.
Late Cameo from David Miller and Abdul Samad took the team to 171/7, but proved inadequate.
Punjab openers were ruthless in response. Prabhasimran Singh scored 69 runs in 34 balls, while Shreyas Iyer (52 Not Out) and Nehal Vaidhera (not 43) easily chased the target, sealed the victory in just 16.2 overs.
