China enhances trade war, performs 34% of the duties on American imports after Trump’s tariff; Files sued with WTO

China announced its decision of Levi on Friday 34% tariff On all American imports starting next week.
Effective tariff rate from 10 April, is equivalent to the “mutual” duty implemented by US President Donald Trump earlier this week.
The Finance Ministry of Beijing quoted AFP as saying, “For all imported items arising from the US, an additional tariff of 34 percent will be imposed on the top of the current applicable tariff rate.”
The Ministry of Commerce of Beijing announced a plan to strengthen export restrictions on additional earth elements, a significant component in advanced technology products including semiconductor chips and EV battery systems.
China announced its intention to challenge tariffs through legal action in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
It comes as Trump, after the market shutdown on Wednesday, declared a national emergency to implement its widespread new tariff strategy, called the “Liberation Day” tariff, which implements the basic duty of 10 percent on almost all imports.
The scheme includes high “mutual” duties targeting key colleagues including the European Union, Japan and Israel.
Trump specifically targeted China, one of the primary trading partners of the US, especially with a rigid tariff of 34 percent, complement the existing trade duties.
