In Arthur Road, Tahwur Rana Ajmal can live in the old cell of Kasab. Bharat News

Mumbai: Pakistani -born Canadian National Tavavur Rana (4) Barrack number 12 is expected to be recorded Arthur Road Jail if and when he is brought to the city to face the trial.
Barrack number 12 is the same building where Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab was placed in a bomb-profile cell before his execution in November 2012.
A jail official said, “So far, no instructions have been issued. Once he is brought here, we will see where to keep it.”
Mumbai Central JailGenerally known as Arthur Road Jail, was built in 1925 and it is spread over three acres. It has a capacity of 1,100, but on average, there are 4,000 prisoners, inviting complaints of congested and unnatural circumstances for undertier.
Barrack 12 is unique in the sense that it is a more secure area, separate from the normal barrack and not all its cells are occupied. During Kasab’s time, the building also had its own kitchen.
“Rana can be recorded in one of the three cells located on the ground floor of Barrack No. 12,” said a prison source.
