Filmmaker Mansoor Khan recently revealed that he initially conceived his cousin Aamir Khan for the role played by Chandrachur Singh in the 2000 film Josh. However, Aamir admitted that he was believed to be for the lead character, Max, eventually depicted by Shah Rukh Khan.
Aamir prepared for the role of Max, but Mansoor kept SRK in mind

“The next day, Aamir came to my father Nasir Hussain’s office, already in the character, with a glove on his hand. I thought,” Oh no, he thinks he is playing Max! ” But I did not immediately correct her, ”Mansoor shared in an interview with PTI.
When he later confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan was finalized as Max, Aamir rejected the role. “At that time, Aamir was infection in his career. He no longer wanted to play romantic roles; he wanted to do hard or more mature characters. So, he denied it flat. Aamir and I still have differences over it,” Mansoor accepted.
Kajol Shree’s role turned down, Max wanted to play
Originally played by Aishwarya Rai, there was also an interesting turn in the casting of Shirley. Mansoor contacted Kajol for the first time for the role, but he had other plans. “She listened to the whole statement, and as she was walking out, I asked her, ‘Kajol, are you doing the film?” She replied, ‘I want to play Max.’ Kajol said, ‘How can I play Shahrukh’s sister?’ Everyone wanted to play Max because the character was so charismatic. ,
Finally, Josh became the last direction of Mansoor Khan before going to Koonur for a quiet life. Considering his departure from film production, he said, “I was never interested in making films for a long time. My plan was always to make some films and then leave because I am not a city person.”
However, he is now ready for a cinematic return with his recently published book, One: The Story of the Ultimate Myths. Aamir Khan is deeply emotional about the project, ready to produce and act in the film. “I wrote the screenplay and a second draft, which I am confident about, but not Aamir. However, he loves this book and firm to make it in a film. He will build it, and we will soon finalize the female lead,” Mansoor concluded.
