The All India Football Federation proposed to organize a Super Cup tournament from mid -September on Thursday, aimed at providing the Indian Super League club with sufficient competitive matches amidst the onset of the ISL season and uncertainty on the format. The proposal came during a meeting with representatives of the ISL Club, who expressed concern about the upcoming season, which are being kept due to issues with renewal of Master Rights Agreements.Mohan Bagan Super Veteran, representatives of East Bengal and Odisha FC virtually attended the meeting, while representatives of other 10 ISL clubs participated in a person in New Delhi.“AIFF proposes that the Super Cup football tournament starts from the second or third week of September to ensure that ISL clubs get adequate competitive matches. AIFF and all 13 ISL clubs collectively decided in the national interest. We will meet again in 7 to 10 days and take a final decision, ”said AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey.“We are hoping to be ISL this season, although it may be a little late. But we can do it with some changes, format or other things. But it will be decided later, there is no decision yet on those things,” Chube said about ISL uncertainty.The super cup, usually held at the end of the season, is now likely to begin the season. The tournament is expected to end India’s AFC Asian Cup qualification against Singapore on 9 and 14 October.The Indian Super League usually runs from September to April. The current Master Rights Agreement between Football Sports Development Limited, ISL organizer and AIFF is set to end on December 8, 2025.
