Air Canada Staff Strike: Protest set to start at the end of this week – why the attendants rejected 38% increment

Flight attendants in Air Canada have voted heavy to strike at the end of this week, inspiring the airline to warn the major travel disruptions starting on Thursday.The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents nationwide hostemps issued a strike notice, inspired Air Canada to respond with a 72-hour lockout notice effective from August 16. According to the union, 99.7 percent of the members supported the strike. It further said that the operation will be suspended from Saturday until a labor agreement is reached.“For the last nine months, we have carried forward solid, data-powered proposals on wages and unpaid work, which are all impartial and linked in the standards of the industry,” Vesley Lesoski said, said Vasley Lesoski, chairman of the Air Canada ingredient of CUPE, CUPE’s Air Canada component. “Air Canada’s response to our proposals makes one thing clear: they are not interested in solving these important issues.”The airline said that an eight -month conversation and an offering to go into mediation failed to make a deal. On August 11, it proposed a 38 percent increment in four years with additional benefits and security, but the Sangh rejected the proposal.Air Canada will begin on 14 August, growing on August 15 and with a full shutdown on 16 August, further operations from the lockout. The carrier operates about 430 daily flights between Canada and the US, which serves more than 50 US airports and transports around 130,000 passengers each day, as reported by CNN. The Sangh is demanding full salary for work, cost-living adjustment and boarding salary for all hours. These issues are currently subject to interactions at American Airlines, where attendants are often not compensated for boarding time.Patty Hazdu, minister of Canadian jobs and families, said in a statement that he had met both sides and the federal mediator will continue till a resolution. “I am closely monitoring the situation and encouraging both sides to stay on the table until a deal was found,” reads his statement.
