Riders who violate the ban may face fines or their vehicles may be seized, although specific punishment has not yet been disclosed. The step shortly after the Ajman police issued a public advice in the previous month, warning the riders to follow road safety rules and avoid using unauthorized electric bicycles and scooters.

The purpose of the joint effort is to improve compliance, reduce accidents and make roads safe for all.
