The delegation of Russian President Vladimir Putin had to pay cash for jet fuel when he visited Alaska on August 15, for a high-dot meeting with US President Donald Trump, said US State Secretary Marco Rubio, citing US banking sanctions against Moscow.Rubio told NBC News, “When Russia landed in Alaska, he went there to fill the fuel. They had to offer their airplanes to pay in cash to re -fuel, as they cannot use our banking system,” Rubio told NBC News. The Russian delegation as part of a high-level summit with President Trump was about five hours in Alaska. While Trump confirmed that no ceasefire deal had reached, reports indicated that Russia had made a resolution, in which Trump encouraged Ukraine to consider it. However, there was no formal agreement with a meeting of about three hours. On the debate of comprehensive sanctions, Rubio defended the current measures, saying, “Every approval that was the day he handled the remains and all the restrictions remained influenced.” He said that despite his seriousness, these restrictions have not changed the direction of war in Ukraine.Responding to the call for strong action, Rubio argued that implementing new sanctions could lead to diplomatic engagement. He said, “The minutes the minutes we take those steps, he is not left in the world to talk to the Russians and try to bring them to the table to reach the peace agreement,” he said. The summit also saw Trump meeting Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski and European leaders to discuss the long -term security guarantee. Zelansky reiterated his openness for direct talks with Putin but rejected any proposal which included regional concessions.Rubio acknowledged the boundaries of economic punishment in forcing for a result: “There is no evidence that more restrictions … will have immediate effect, as the restrictions take months and sometimes to cut the years.”
