New Delhi: According to Jammu and Kashmir Information and Public Relations Department (DIPR), the Amarnath Yatra will be suspended from Jammu on Thursday due to heavy rains in Kashmir.“Due to heavy rains in the travel area, the movement of pilgrims has been affected by base camps. Therefore, it has been decided that no convoy movement will be held from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu to Base Camp Baltal and Nunwan on 31 July, “DIPR posted on X.The pilgrimage was also suspended on Wednesday, due to weather conditions.The decision to stop the Amarnath Yatra was taken as a precautionary measure to protect the devotees. It resumed early this month and ends on 9 August.According to DIPR, about 4 lakh lakh pilgrims have visited the Amarnath cave pilgrims since the pilgrimage started on 3 July. “So far, more than 3.93 lakh pilgrims have paid permission at the Holy Cave Temple during the Sri Amarnathji Yatra 2025,” read a DIPR post.The holy Amarnath Shrine, located at an altitude of 3,888 meters in South Kashmir, attracts thousands of devotees every year. Devotees travel via traditional 48-cilometer Pahalgam route or small but stator 14-kilometer Baltal route.
