American Embassy Warns of Large Shooting Danger in Honduras

TeguCigalpa: The US Embassy in Honduras on Tuesday issued a warning about a collective shooting threat on three possible goals in the capital including a school, a shopping mall and a government premises.A warning posted in the embassy account on X said that he has received information that the attacks could take place on Tuesday and 16 May. This warned American citizens to escape from places. “The three target places mentioned in Tagusigalpa are Elliot Dover Christian Schools, Centro Civico in Tagusigalpa, and an anonymous mall in Tagusigalpa,” said Warning. “All American citizens require an embassy by American law to broadcast this message.” There was no indication that American citizens would be specially targeted, the embassy said. The American Embassy said it did not have much information. Honduras Police Director Juan Manuel Aguiler Godoy reduced the warning and said it should not be alarm. “This is just a warning,” he said on local radio, saying that the information came from the FBI and Honduran officials were also informed. “The FBI is obliged to advise its citizens, according to the United States guidelines,” he said. Honduras Foreign Affairs Minister Eduardo Enric Reena said on X that the administration had considered the information “responsibly and regardless of its truth or possibility”. Reena said the warning came in an election year. He said that the government will make every effort to protect the public and the election process. National elections are scheduled for 30 November.
