Smart Gates is a state -of -the -art, automated passport control system available on both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoom International Airport (DWC). These doors use facial identification and biometric verification technology to quickly and safely identify passengers. Designed to streamline the immigration process, smart gates eliminate the requirement of manual passport stamping or document checks for eligible users. Once registered, the passengers can go to the bus gate, see in a camera, and, if verified, then pass in a few seconds, making Dubai airports arriving and departure rapidly, contactless and highly efficient.

Who can use smart gates?

According to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA-DUBAI), the following categories of passengers are allowed to use smart gate, as long as they are registered:

  • UAE citizens
  • Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Citizen
  • UAE resident
  • Biometric passport visa-on-arrival guests
  • Guest holding Schengen Union Visa
  • Prior visa holder

Comment: Registered users should have a height of at least 1.2 m.

Who cannot use smart gates?

Some passengers are not eligible to use smart gates, even if they complete the above categories. This includes:

  • People of determination
  • Big stroller guests
  • Family with children
  • Guests less than 1.2 meters in height

Most international passengers undergoing passport control checkpoints at Dubai airports may be registered for Smart Gates, but you have to find out if you are eligible through GDRFA-DUBAI.

How to check if you are registered for smart gate

1. First of all, visit the website – gdrfad.gov.ae2. Scroll down on the homepage, until you see the service, click on the ‘inquiry for smart gate registration’ and the Red ‘Start Service’ button.3. Next, choose one of the options:• File Number – You can find a file number on visa stickers on your passport, or on e -video you receive as visitors. If you choose a file number, you have to choose the file type as a ‘resident’ or ‘permit’, select the Emirates that has released the visa, and enter the file number.• UDB number or Emirate Integrated Number • Emirates ID Number• Passport Number – Enter your nationality and passport number.4. Enter your date of birth.5. Select your penis.6. Click on the captcha ‘I am not a robot’ and click on the ‘Submit’ button.7. Next, you will be informed by GDRFA-Dubai if your record is registered. How to use Smart Gates on DXB/DWC

Once your biometrics are approved, the smart gates will open, and your passport control process.For some UAE residents, once registered, you do not need to scan your passport or Emirates ID at the smart gate. Just look at the camera, and the system will automatically get your full name and picture from the immigration record.
