Army Duo, Landslide Hits Sikkim Camp as Porter | Bharat News

Kalimpong/Kolkata/Darjeeling: Two army personnel and a porter died when their camp in Mangan, Sikkim, started late Sunday night with heavy rains in a landslide. Six other – four army personnel and two family members – are missing.The landslide hit the camp at a distance of 3 km in the camp in the Chungthang sub-division of Mangan around 7 pm. The bodies of Havildar Lakhwinder Singh, Lance Naik Munish Thakur and Porter Abhishek Lakhada were recovered from the rubble on Monday, while four people were rescued from minor injuries.The missing includes Lieutenant Colonel Pritpal Sandhu (GSO-I), his wife SQN LDR Aarti B Sandhu (Rtired) and daughter Aarthi Sandhu, Subeder Dharamveer, Sap Senuddin PK and Seep Sunilal Mustahari. Officials said that the teams were working in a clock phase in challenging areas and adverse weather conditions to disappear.Army’s mourning life was lost in the Sikkim tragedy.
