New Delhi: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday extended his confrontation with the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging that accused of launching a dedicated platform to reduce the democratic process and raise public support. In a post on X, Rahul wrote: “Vote theft ‘is an attack on the founding idea of’ One Man, One Vote ‘. A clean voter role is compulsory for free and fair elections. This fight is to protect our democracy. ,The move follows his recent allegations that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were “choreographed” by the EC to benefit the BJP, which he described as “immunity to anti-incompatibility”. Citing the internal analysis of the Congress, Gandhi said that the party had expected to win 16 seats in Karnataka, but only nine were safe. He claimed a detailed review of the seven unexpected disadvantages pointed to a large -scale “vote theft” in the Mahadevpura constituency, including 100,250 votes stolen through duplicate entries, fake addresses and wholesale registrations at single places.“This is an election commission figure. Interestingly, he has not denied information. He has not told the voter list that Rahul Gandhi is wrong. Why you do not say this wrong. Because you know the truth. You know that we know that you have done this across the country.”The pole body has repeatedly pushed back, urging Gandhi to submit a signed announcement under the name of the alleged duplicate voters, under the registration of the 1960 voters’ rules. In a statement on Saturday, the ECI said that he should either make an announcement as per the rules or apologize to the country for his false allegations “. Sources argued that if Gandhi really believes in his claims, he should not hesitate to sign, ANI said. The BJP also hit back, his national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia blamed the institutions for electoral defeat without producing evidence. Karnataka Minister Ji Parmeshwar, however, supported Gandhi, saying that the State Congress unit would file a formal complaint on his behalf.NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar also gave weight to Gandhi’s concerns, recalling that two persons had approached him before the Maharashtra assembly elections, claiming that he could guarantee 160 out of 288 seats-a proposal that he and Gandhi rejected both as “our routes”.
