New Delhi: Raja Raghuvanshi’s family on Wednesday apologized to the Meghalaya government as the murder of the Indore-based businessman, allegedly “tarnished” the image of the Northeast State by his own wife.Raja’s brother Sachin Raghuvanshi also thanked the Meghalaya government for supporting his family.“I want to apologize to the Meghalaya government that due to a Sonam Raghuvanshi, the image of the state has been tarnished. His police have resolved the matter in 17 days. I want to thank the Meghalaya government for standing with us.”Meanwhile, Raja’s father Ashok Raghuvanshi demanded that the deceased’s wife, Sonam’s family also apologized to the Meghalaya Police.“They should apologize for insulting the Meghalaya Police. I believe in the Meghalaya Police. They have done a great job. I also apologize for the insult he was suffering. Meghalaya Police found my son, though he was dead. A thorough investigation should be done and criminals should be hanged.”On Tuesday, Meghalaya Minister Alexander Hek had apologized to two families for “tarnishing” the image of the state and its people, and warned that a defamation case would be filed if there is no apology.“Now we are apologizing to the families of Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi to tarnish the image of Meghalaya and its people. The people of Meghalaya demand an apology; otherwise, we will file a defamation case against them,” Hek said.Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi, who got married last month, came to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. The case attracted national attention due to the sudden disappearance of the couple.On June 2, the king’s body was found in a gorge, while Sonam was still missing.Then, in a major turn for the case on Monday, he surrendered in Gazipur, Uttar Pradesh. Four other people known as Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha and Anand are also accused of killing King Raghuvanshi.
