Bengaluru: A businessman in Bengaluru performed surgery after his finger, which was severely bitten during a road anger incident, which began with a rainwater splash on another vehicle. The incident took place on the night of 26 May near the railway colony on Magdi Road. Jayant Shekhar, a resident of Magdi Road, was running home with his wife Parvati and mother-in-law Manjula after dinner, when his electric car navigated a waterfall and splashing rain water on a nearby vehicle.

According to police complaint, the driver of the adjacent car and a female passenger shouted at Shekhar, who apologized and continued driving. However, the other vehicle left Shekhar’s car behind and blocked at a short distance away. The man allegedly drove Shekhar out of the car, started shouting at him and physically assaulted him. During the change, Shekhar allegedly grabbed the man’s hand in an attempt to flee, the point at which the man bites Shekhar’s right finger and punched him under his left eye. He again escaped from the scene, releasing the incidents. Parvati told TOI, “Shekhar’s finger was badly injured and doctors said surgery was necessary due to bone damage.”She said that the cost of treatment in a private hospital in Shadripuram is Rs 2 lakh and her husband is still in pain. Parvati also alleged that the attacker was aggressively treated by the woman and threatened them. The next day a formal police complaint was lodged at Magdi Road Police Station. A case has been registered under several sections of the Indian Judication Code, including voluntary injury and serious injury, criminal intimidation and incorrect restraint. Police say efforts are underway to identify and arrest the suspects, traveling in a car with registration number KA -02 -MT -0512.
Road rage incidents in Bengaluru recently
It is the latest in a series of violent road rage cases in the city. In April, an Indian Air Force Wing Commander was booked for attempt to murder after a dispute with an employee of a private company. CCTV footage later showed the officer allegedly assaulting the man. In August 2024, a 21 -year -old delivery executive named Mahesh died after being hit by a car, who allegedly followed him after a minor collision.
