New Delhi: Karnataka’s sub -division DK Shivkumar on Thursday left the death of 11 people in front of the media, speaking for the first time after a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) injured more than 70 during IPL victory ceremonies.Senior Congress leader, blind emotional, said that the tragedy shook him deeply.He said, “We should learn an administrative lesson, let the opposition do politics on dead bodies. Shivkumar apologized immediately after the tragedy on Wednesday, admitting that the government had underestimated the size of the crowd. He said, “This should not have happened and we had never expected such a large crowd. The stadium has a capacity of 35,000, but there were more than 3 lakh people. Gates (stadium) are broken. We apologize for this incident. We want to know the facts and give a clear message,” he said.He accused the opposition BJP of politicizing the incident, saying: “BJP is doing politics. We are very sorry for this incident. We will give a better solution in future.” The Karnataka government has postponed all the official programs set for Friday, which stop the cabinet meeting as a mark of respect. “Yesterday, except for a cabinet meeting, all programs have been postponed. No function including World Environment Day.” Shivkumar said.Compensation declared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed a separate press conference, killed for the injured and announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh for free medical care families. He said, “There was a big tragedy during the victory ceremony. It took place near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured.”He said, “11 died in stampede. It should not have been a tragedy. The government expresses deep grief over the incident,” he said. The Chief Minister also confirmed that a magisterial inquiry was ordered in the incident, with the expectation of a report in 15 days. “I do not want to defend this incident.
