New Delhi: Bihar has become the first state in the country, with a cap of 1,200 voters per polling station (PS) compared to the current nationwide criteria of 1,500 voters per PS. The low upper boundary has added 12,817 polling stations in the state, taking its statewide strength from 77,895 to 90,712 before the special intensive amendment (SIR) exercise.This information was kept out by EC in its latest update on SIR, which has been changed to only 29.6 lakhs by creating 3.8% of the 7.9 crore voters in the state.According to the poll panel, additional polling stations in Bihar – whose need, according to the instructions dated June 24, will be prevented by the Election Registration Officer (ERO), except for a cap of 1,200 voters, except for the prior approval of the Commission – except for the prior approval of voters, long queues of voters.
