New Delhi: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused the Election Commission of acting as a “election theft wing” of the BJP, claiming that it is helping the saffron party in voter fraud before the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.He rebuilt a video on X, claiming that government officials were filling voter forms and signing them without the knowledge of voters.

Rahul Gandhi questioned whether the Election Commission is still neutral or has become the “election theft” wing of the BJP.In a post on X, he wrote, “In Bihar, the Election Commission was stolen with a red hand in the name of ‘Sir’. His job is just theft, named ‘Sir’ – an FIR will be filed against those who expose them! Is EC still ‘Election Commission’ or is it completely BJP’s ‘election theft’?This is not the first time that former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has questioned the pole body. He has done this on several occasions. Referring to the Maharashtra election results, he also wrote a detailed article in a daily newspaper, with a wide debate on the credibility and fairness of the EC.On July 10, the Supreme Court allowed the pole body to continue with its special intensive amendment (SIR) of the election role. The apex court advised EC to consider accepting Aadhaar, ration card and voter ID as a valid proof of advice.The court said in its order, “We are prima facie opinions whether the Election Commission will also include documents like Aadhaar, Ration Card, Voter ID Card, etc..,According to the EC, till Saturday evening, 80.11 percent of the voters in Bihar presented their forms. The Commission is targeting to complete the process before the July 25 deadline.Bihar assembly elections are expected to be held in October or November this year, but EC has not yet announced the official date.In the upcoming elections, the NDA alliance, BJP, JD (U) and LJP will try to maintain electricity. RJD, Congress and Left parties will try to defeat India Block – CM Nitish Kumar.Currently, Bihar Assembly has 243 seats. The NDA has 131 of these, BJP has 80 MLAs, JD (U) has 45, Ham (S) 4, and 2 independent MLAs. India block has 111 members – RJD with 77, Congress with 19, CPI (ML) with 11, CPI (M) 2, and CPI with 2.
