Bihar: The government set up a panel of cleanliness workers; Women and Trans members include | Bharat News

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday approved the formation of the State Sanitation Workers Commission to protect the rights of cleanliness workers and oversee their welfare, rehabilitation, empowerment and access to government schemes.In a social media post on X, Nitish said that the commission would include a chairperson, a vice -president and five members, including a female/transgender members. “I am happy to announce that to ensure the safety, welfare, rehabilitation, social upliftment, grievance redressal and monitoring of various welfare schemes for cleanliness workers in Bihar, I have directed the department to establish the Bihar State Cleanliness Activist Commission. This commission will provide suggestions related to the interests of cleanliness workers, advise the government to protect its rights, and will take appropriate action for reviewing and implementation of welfare schemes for people engaged in cleanliness work, ”Nitish said.He said, “Bihar State Cleanliness Workers Commission will include a chairperson, one vice -chairman and five members, including a female/transgender members. This commission will play an important role in integrating the disadvantaged sections of the society involved in cleanliness and contributing to their social and economic development.”Beyond the upcoming assembly elections, set at the end of the year, Nitish has started a hurry of social security schemes in the state. Earlier on Saturday, the Bihar government announced an increase in pension of recognized journalists under the Bihar Patrika Samman Pension Scheme.Additionally, the government decided to implement an dominance policy for government jobs reserved for women. Since 2016, 35 percent reservation for women candidates in state government jobs is quota. Today, the new dominance policy approved by the state cabinet, prohibits this quota for women who are permanent residents of Bihar.The Nitish -led government also announced the provision of free electricity of 125 units for domestic consumers.
